Quick Digital Imaging Tip 29/101: Look for Pictures Within a Picture

This is tip #29 of 101 digital imaging tips I plan to post here over the next few months. Stay tuned.

Today's tip: Look for Pictures Within a Picture

Here is an example of that idea. I am sure you could find other pictures within my picture – and more important, in your pictures.
Never underestimate the importance and power of cropping.

To create the soft, pastel look illustrated here, I used the Pastel filter in Nik Color Efex Pro. You can get a 15% discount on Nik Software by clicking here.

Quick Digital Imaging Tip 28/101: See The Light

This is tip #28 of 101 digital imaging tips I plan to post here over the next few months. Stay tuned.

Today's tip: See the light!

Photography is all about the light.

We need to see . . .

1) The contrast range in the scene.
2) The direction of light.
3) The quality of light.
4) The color of light.

We need see the light, we can better determine:
1) The best in-camera exposure.
2) If we need to control the light (with a flash, diffuser or reflector).
3) How much digital darkroom work may be needed.
