The Google Shoot - Top Light Illuminates Top Photographer

Photograph by Rick Sammon
Yesterday, I had the pleasure and honor of speaking at Google to its photography club. What fun.

After my talk, I did a demo of basic lighting techniques, using expert photographer/podcaster Catherine Hall as my main subject. We shot in the relatively new Google photo studio.

Basically, I was illustrating how important it is to move the light around the subject - and to move around the subject when you are using lighting.

I created the black and white image above using Nik Silver Efex Pro. For a discount on all Nik plug-ins, use this code upon checkout: RSAMMON.

I shot with my Canon 5D Mark II and Canon 24-105mm IS lens. For all my gear, click here.

I'll be on Catherine's podcast, TWiT Photo, later today. Catherine will be my guest on cL later this week.

Explore the light,
Rick
